Early 00’s 1:400 Airport Update, Fall 2024

A cool morning at Salt Lake City. Delta “Colors in Motion” jets get ready for morning ops. Low cost carries catch the early bird slots with AirTran and Allegiant ready to pick up eager skiers and snowboarders from Florida and Georgia for the starting season.

Snow is falling this chilly morning in Minneapolis. A workhorse DC-10-30 loads cargo for a routine trip to Amsterdam Schiphol airport.

A shot of the lineup at my airport, at LAX configuration circa 2006. Another model I’m thankful to have tracked down, this NWA 747-200 N624US, with the rare Gemini Jets rubber rolling gear they briefly had on models around 07/08.

A warm morning sunrise at Phoenix Sky Harbor Int. Ground crew will relish in the coolness of the Moring before the punishing dry heat rolls in.

Morning overcast turnaround in Denver. The United “Rising Blue” 747-400 (N196UA) was another rare long sought after model for my collection, happy to finally tracked one down.

US low-cost carriers line up at the gates at terminal 2. An Allegiant MD-83, Spirit A319, AirTran 737-700, and Southwest 737-700.

An NWA 747-400 and DC-10-30 are parked at the widebody gates at the new terminal 1. This summer I expanded the airport, adding a new reginal ramp and terminal, redesigned and built the ground apron and markings, and added new GSE (ground service equipment).

Time for some international visitors. Here is a Lufthansa 747-400 (D-ABTK) pulling off the taxiway. I had the pleasure of flying on this exact aircraft this summer from JFK to FRA.

Something different than what I usually do, here I set up some of my British aircraft for a mockup of London Heathrow. A BAE-146, A318, and 747-400.

A Northwest 757-200 and 747-400 sit at the gates loading passengers and cargo. Both wearing NWA’s final livery before their 2007 Merger with Delta. My all time favorite livery. Had to include this image again as it is one of my favorites I took at the airport.

An American MD-83 is ready for takeoff on runway 27

A new model addition I purchased, a Mesa Airlines Dash-8-200, sits next to a Colgan Air Saab 340B at my new regional ramp.
