Hasegawa 1:200 TWA Tristar Restoration

Sometimes something old and damaged can be transformed into something beautiful with a little care. Here is a journey I took this past summer to restore an old Hasegawa Lockheed Tristar kit I built many years ago. It had various defects in the paint and decals from age, and was in need of a proper repaint. It was a super fulfilling experience to take a model which was neglected and in pieces in my parents basement, and give it a new lease on life. My modeling skills had greatly improved since when I first built it, so it was very fun to fix various things I initially did wrong and apply new techniques I had since learned in the model making process.

Back to the 90’s (Fall Airport Update)

Revisiting the pivotal age in modern aviation pre 9/11, where the “old world” and “new world” of airliners and airlines coexisted together briefly, before the march of technological advancement and brand bankruptcies and mergers changed the scene forever. A world where the DC-10 and A320 lived side by side. Where Continental, TWA, America West, US Airways, and Northwest teetered into the 21st century.

Early 00’s 1:400 Airport Update, Fall 2024

Back to the 00’s, New Order was reinventing itself, Blur waned and the Gorillaz rose. Radiohead developed their experimental sound, and like the music industry, the world of airlines was in great flux. Old airlines being killed and reborn after bankruptcies and mergers though a rocky post 9/11 world.
